Autumn Leaves

Another substance material made from photo reference, I wanted a material I could explore the shape splatter nodes i have been so slow at getting round to.. they clearly tackle some key limitations of the tile sampler node and are a great addition. For the leaves, as you can see on the screenshots, I created a leaf height map in substance and then applied to plane meshes in Maya before curving and bending them and baking them back to a small atlas. For the smaller birch leaves I did the same but on a 3x3 grid, and these are then later in the graph split out and form my pool of leaf shapes used in the material.
